One of my favorite worship songs…
“You make me brave
You call me out beyond the shore into the waves
You make me brave
No fear can hinder now the love that made a way”
The lyrics of this song touch the hearts of millions because we can all relate to this struggle…
The struggle of once being paralyzed with fear.
Fear that prevents us from moving forward to the place that God Himself has prepared for us.
Amanda Cook shares her heart on writing this amazing worship song.
Hearing Amanda’s personal story deepens the connection to this beautiful song.
As we share our stories…we can see that we are all a part of the same story. God’s story.
The first step to my Journal page was to adhere some letter stickers and “paint” the word BRAVE using masking fluid.
Next step is to add color:)
Neocolor II are a favorite of mine. You can use them wet or dry.
They can be applied like a crayon, but more often, I take a wet brush and pull color off the tip.
Below, I “colored” a stamp, then spritzed with a bit of water and stamped on the color.
Above, you can see how I “colored” with them like a crayon. I then went back over each section with a brush loaded with water. If you want to keep the areas from “bleeding” into one another, use a heat tool to dry between each area as you go.
I added a few doodles and stamps along with a simple border.
Hope this inspires you to create today!
Happy Saturday! Today I thought I would share another journaling card I worked on in the wee morning hours yesterday. Creating rust is a favorite technique of mine…especially when I want to give something a vintage feel. With this card, I combined a “brighter” color…
Anyone who has known me for very long, knows that Ephesians 1 is one of my favorite passages. In it, we are told that we are BLESSED (with EVERY spiritual blessing), LOVED, CHOSEN, HOLY, BLAMELESS, ADOPTED, REDEEMED, FORGIVEN, PREDESTINED…making know to us the MYSTERY OF…
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” -Romans 1:20
I started this piece by writing the word “Believe” on watercolor paper with Art Masking Fluid. Once I finished applying all the paint, gesso and heavy gesso (and all where dry) I rubbed off the masking fluid with my finger.
There are many brands to chose from…you can even find a bottle that has a small brush or pen like applicator. I applied it with a round paint brush. When using a paint brush, make sure you clean it right away with warm soapy water.
For a GREAT article on masking fluid go here.
Below is a practice page in my Bible. I did the same process on a page in the back titled “Weights and Measures.” I wanted to make sure the masking fluid would come off without tearing my Bible page. I would suggest working fairly quickly. Allowing the masking fluid to sit on your page for too long, may make it harder to rub off without tearing your page. After you apply the fluid, you can start painting as soon as you can touch it without it coming off on your finger. I waited about 10 minutes.
Feel free to ask questions if you have any!
We will all have changing “seasons” in our lives. As Jesus did before us, we will experience weeping, but also find laughter…mourning, but learn to dance… uprooting but also planting… breaking down, yet building up…life…but also death. The great news is…it won’t be the end…
I recently posted a DOODLE 101 on Deuteronomy 6. You can find it here. There is nothing more important to me than to know my kids love the Lord and believe He is who He says He is, will do what He says He will…
