Living an ART filled life...“Creativity is a God-given ability to take something ordinary and make it into something special. It is an openness to doing old things new ways…The creative spirit is part of our heritage as children of the One who created all things. And nurturing our creativity is part of our responsibility as stewards of God’s good gifts.” - Emilie Barnes, The Spirit of Loveline

Speaking Truth in Love ❤️

Speaking Truth in Love ❤️

Hello! I want to share the process of speaking truth in love in a personal way with you today. This is something I talk about often, especially with women in my close circles. As a wife and mother, I have learned this lesson MANY times over […]

To the least of these…

To the least of these…

Hello!

I’m writing from my bed today…after caring for several sickies, I have now fallen to the same end, & on my lap sits my iPad Pro. How amazing it is to be afforded the luxury of laying here with this miraculous piece of technology underneath my fingertips.  I am constantly in awe and wonder over it’s capabilities!

Below you will find my latest doodle 101 of a few cute woodland animals. Their evolution began yesterday, when I started working on a simple little sketch from a live “model” on my back patio…a mama dove on her nest with 2 babies.

2 years ago today, my Mom left this world to be with Jesus. When I returned home from the hospital, I found a dove nesting on my back porch for the first time.

(This is the original post I wrote the week I found that dove)

2 years ago, I experienced God’s presence with me, as I watched this dove make her home in my backyard.

A symbol of hope…a promise of new life…& eternal life.

She has come back this year, caring for her babies, as the circle of life continues. She reminds me that the Lord is faithful and good. She reminds me that He cares for us in such personal ways…often mysterious, often misunderstood. I am again reminded that this earth is not my home, but while I am here, God He has called me to follow His lead…

“Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” -Matthew 6:26

…to love without measure…to care for those I sometimes feel are unlovable… to serve the lost, the widow, the orphans, the poor…the sparrows.

Matthew 25:40

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

I hope to get back to my sketch book soon, to finish journaling about the Dove’s return.

Until then, happy doodling!

Bless you,

Year of the Word

Year of the Word

Hello!

I’ve missed you:)

I haven’t posted in quite awhile…for many reasons really…but the primary reason is…

The Lord has been prompting me to step away from too much “alone time” and back into more intentional discipling.

I’m not sure if it is His Will for me to step away from my blog completely, but the intense time it takes to write and develop art along with step by step doodles has definitely pulled me away from what I feel the Lord has purposed me for…encouraging others in their faith…up close and personal.

Like all of you, I also have many other responsibilities in caring for my family and extended family, church work, etc. Life is a balancing act, and one we me must constantly go to the Lord to for direction.

I hope to continue with my blog, praying about what that might look like.

For now, I want those of you who take the precious time to read my heart here at 1 Arthouse to know how much I value you, appreciate your time, YOUR heart and your life! It is for you that I post. Anything I have to give, I do out of gratitude for this life the Lord rescued. I want the same for you. I desire His best for you.

My church is taking this NEW year to start at the beginning of God’s Word and read His book of life from cover to cover.

We are using the app READ SCRIPTURE. It comes with great tools and videos that introduce each book as you go. You can find it HERE

I had a sweet instagram friend ask me for a print out for the art below. Hope it is something you will all enjoy!

A Gentle Whisper from the Lord

A Gentle Whisper from the Lord

1 Kings 19

9 There he came to a cave and lodged in it. And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and he said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He said, “I have been very jealous for the Lord, the God of hosts. For the people of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword, and I, even I only, am left, and they seek my life, to take it away.” 11 And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.[a] 13 And when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out and stood at the entrance of the cave. And behold, there came a voice to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”

The Lord spoke to Elijah in a low whisper…a “gentle voice”

In Hebrew, the phrase is Kol D’ mama dekah.

What a Good Father we have. What a tender Shepherd.
