Living an ART filled life...“Creativity is a God-given ability to take something ordinary and make it into something special. It is an openness to doing old things new ways…The creative spirit is part of our heritage as children of the One who created all things. And nurturing our creativity is part of our responsibility as stewards of God’s good gifts.” - Emilie Barnes, The Spirit of Loveline

After many years of physical pain, my best friend & Mother has left her broken body to be fully restored.

It is a great comfort to know that this place we dwell is not our home, and that our Loving King has gone before us to prepare a place that we can spend eternity with Him…but, for those of us still here, it can be a difficult wait to be without the ones we dearly love.

As much as I love my Mom (and Dad) I know that their love for me is even greater…a model of the way our Heavenly Father  loves His children…an unconditional love, full of forgiveness that never runs out.  My Mom has always been the most eager listening ear, with a heart the longed to take in every detail of my life, my children’s lives, and their children’s lives.  I shared everything with her…because she wanted to share everything with me.

My Mom taught me how to live to serve others.  Before I knew Jesus, she showed me who He was by her example.

It is heartbreaking to know that I won’t have my best girlfriend to share my life with….at least not until I see her beautiful face with God.  Waves of emotions come and go…as I am reminded that our stay here is temporary.  None of us know how many days we have on this earth…

We should live each day as if it were our last, making LOVE our only choice.

As I was talking with my daughter, I shared with her that I had come home from the hospital to find a dove that had made a nest in a plant on my patio.  She said, Mom that must be a sign.

I think she is right.  Our God is in every detail.  It is hard to wrap our human mind around this big idea…it’s supernatural and above what our limited view can understand, yet I know it is true.  He has proven His faithfulness and presence to me over and over again.

Thank you sweet Emily, for reminding me that God is always present, and with His great love and mercy, He speaks to us in ways that we can understand.

The most familiar dove imagery from the New Testament is recounted in all four of the Gospels at the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the Jordan River. After Jesus came up out of the water, the Spirit of God came from heaven and descended on him “like a dove” (Matthew 3:16; Mark 1:10; Luke 3:22; John 1:32). The baptism story built on the pre-existing symbol of the dove as God’s Spirit.

A dove returned to Noah’s ark with an olive branch in its beak, a sign that life had returned to the earth.

I will look at the dove with new eyes.  I will see the promise of God’s presence…that the Lord has given me a sign that my precious Mother has returned to her eternal Home with new life, leaving behind the broken to be fully restored.

All praise and glory to our Lord.

I love you now and forever Mom.

I LOVE Solomon’s prayer…His heart was motivated by the “I’M THIRD” principal:) 1. God  2.Others  3.Myself I have “adopted” his prayer, daily asking the Lord for wisdom, in order to better love and serve others.  As we see in this example, God was pleased […]

What if we CRAVED time with our God as much as we crave our coffee?

(or coke, or tea, or ___)

Let’s pray that the Lord causes a stirring in our hearts that draws us to Him FIRST…before we even set our feet on the floor.  Practice that moment of opening your eyes as you lay in bed, and thank Him for the gift of each day. And while we’re at it…let’s give the day back to Him… asking what good purpose He has for us to do.  Jesus taught us how to do it.

In our obedience, we will find contentment:)

Every year we take our kids skiing out west to Park City, Utah. Now we are taking our grandchildren…where did the time go?

I am never more awed by God’s Glory, than when I look out over these mountains. It is a place that makes the statement “a mountain top experience” come to life for me.

I especially appreciate the imagery in Psalm 98

“let the mountains sing together for joy!”

I hear them up here, and I’m singing with them.
