Seeking God’s Kingdom First-Dr. Tony Evans

HELLO, on this Good Friday, Dec. 27th!

For those of you who have been following my journaling, you know I’m an avid listener of Dr. Tony Evans!

You can listen to his podcasts with his free app.

Just when I think I truly understand a section of God’s Word, the Lord gives me a fresh perspective!

The Podcast I listened to this morning is titled “Seeking God’s Kingdom First” posted on December 23rd. (From Matthew 6-25-34)

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendorwas dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

The following quotes really stood out to me in this teaching on Matthew 6:

  • “What food is to the body, righteousness is to the soul.”
  • “The antidote to worry, is the repositioning of God’s place in your life”
  • “Are you running so fast to catch your plane, that you out run even the Pilot? You’re not going anywhere without the Pilot!”

Living in the present WITH God, is to abide. It’s a constant effort of obedience to seek His will in every moment of every day. It’s not something that comes naturally for any of us. We can only walk hand in hand with the Lord by opening up our hands… Putting down the other thing(s) we are holding instead & Daily REPOSITIONING Him as the first priority in our life. This is the key to experiencing fruit. (Love, joy, peace, patience, etc. / Gal 5)

It’s our nature to race ahead, to get to the plane first, and fly solo. How crazy is that? Would we attempt to fly and airplane without it’s pilot? Learning to follow takes time, but with each step of obedience we take, God meets us with His presence and provision. Experiencing this (HIM) is what grows our confidence in His faithfulness to provide…and from this, our desire to position the Lord first in our lives will grow.

Let me know if you like these printable note pages and I will work on creating more!

I created the sticker page and you can find them in my Etsy shop.
