TODAY is Day 8 in our study.
John Chapter 6 begins with the famous 5 loaves and 2 fish. The story we’ve heard since we were young, and for some, the most memorable flannel board portrayal of scripture.
5 loaves. 2 fish, over 5,000 fed.
The message in the miracle was right in front of the people’s noses, but their bellies became quite a distraction.
Andrea Lucado poses the question…
“How could these people stand before the Son of God who offered them eternal life and demand more barley loaves instead?”
The human race hasn’t changed much, huh? Chasing the miracle before the Man…the Son of God.
Jesus said, “Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set His seal.”
We are all on a constant quest for the food that perishes, it was true then, it is true now.
When we seek to “fill our bellies” with anything before the “bread of life” we are left hungry…unsatisfied. We keep trying, but eventually come up short, standing in the “next food line” only to be hungry again.
I don’t want to feel hungry…and I certainty don’t want to settle for McDonalds when a feast fit for a King awaits. So why then, do I often settle for less? -Cause my belly is too full of junk food…no room for the feast.
STOP EATING JUNK SUE! My spiritual life and my physical life have collided as of late. With health issues and (sorry for TMI -too much info) & festering gallstones, it’s becoming a necessity to stop eating the junk.
What a lesson I can learn if I pay attention and take the action required to move from suffering to health and life!
I hear the shepherd’s gentle voice in my head…look up, I am with you. Stop looking down, and stop looking within…stop avoiding eye contact with Me…I am what you seek…look to Me, look to life!
John 6: 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom He has sent.”
Dear Lord forgive me for settling for less than the best you have to offer. Thank you loving Father, for providing the Bread of Life…that I might not only live a “full” life here on earth, but with You for eternity.
Thank you for providing all that we need, beyond our wildest dreams.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” -Matthew 6:33 (NLT)
Did you eat your breakfast? It will sustain you and produce the fruits you long for…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control:)
How is the study going for you? I’d love to hear from you!
