Living an ART filled life...“Creativity is a God-given ability to take something ordinary and make it into something special. It is an openness to doing old things new ways…The creative spirit is part of our heritage as children of the One who created all things. And nurturing our creativity is part of our responsibility as stewards of God’s good gifts.” - Emilie Barnes, The Spirit of Loveline

Hello FRUIT!

Today we begin week 4 of our study The Virtue of Contentment.

If we go all the way back to our PRE-STUDY, we “dug into” the word ABIDE.

If you are investing in your relationship with the Lord each day (ABIDING), you are sure to experience His blessing as He develops the FRUIT (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness & self-control) in YOU.

As you experience fruit in your life, it becomes a natural response to want more! Instead of looking for love in all the wrong places, we are learning, through the EXPERIENCE of God’s presence, to go straight to the ONLY source.

Just as in Week 3, we have 2 sections of scripture to study.

Philippians 4:4-9

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 3:12-16

12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

We have a WEALTH of truth to process this week.  As we set our hearts and minds on the Lord He will reveal exactly what we need to know.

Don’t forget that you have a constant helper.  Jesus did not leave us here alone.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” -John 14:26

Rely on Him to reveal what your human mind can never know apart from the Spirit.  HOLD ON TO THE COMITTMENT TO ABIDE IN CHRIST MOMENT BY MOMENT, ALL DAY, EVERYDAY.  Cry out to the Lord when you feel distracted. ASK. ASK. ASK. The Lord will even provide you with the desire to ABIDE, if you ASK🙋💕

6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—
10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.”  -1 Corinthians 2:6-13

Our study reminds us this week that everything we “take in” is important.  The old saying is true…Good in, good out…Bad in, Bad out.

The Virtue of Contentment / WK 4 / Day 1/ Sue Carroll

The Lord taught my oldest son the importance of “checks and balances”…. The need of accountability for what’s “going in.”

When he was in college, the Lord guided him to develop “internet accountability” with a friend.  Each could “see” what the other was “taking in” on their computers, creating a “fire wall” for each other.

Fires get out of control fast.

We could all use firewalls.

Who is your firewall?

I think it’s something we should all consider.

Girls, let’s help each other out! God requires this from us.  He has created us to be a part of the body…functioning together, supporting one another, without “cutting off our own foot!”

I can’t say it enough. We need to be actively engaged with other sisters!

Encouraging, sharpening, loving.

May God draw you to Himself, as you practice His presence this week…ABIDING.

In Him,

Sue

    • Hi Joy! Have you just begun “The Virtue of Contentment Study?” If so, I posted a 4 day “pre-study” (especially for those waiting on books to arrive) on Abiding. It is a great way to “start on the right foot” as we get intentional about seeking God first daily…it is the “secret” to contentment:) You can find this 4 day study by clicking on my menu, and then on the title “Pre-Study Abide” Does that answer your question? Please let me know if I can be of further help! Xo
