I had not imagined the breathtaking beauty that we would discover in Glacier National Park, Montana. After having travelled all over the world, seeing spectacular views from the Parthenon in Greece, the ruins in Ephesus, the Pyramids in Egypt, the remains of Pompeii, the cliffs of Masada in Israel, the streets of Venice, the hillsides of Sorrento Italy, and the Vineyards of Tuscany (just to name a few)…
Glacier National Park in the good ol’ USA holds its own:) If you have the chance to go, there is so much to do…we just scratched the surface with a 7 day stay.
This was taken at Many Glaciers.
Many Glacier is a hikers paradise, and the there are so many options for visitors no matter what “skill” level. Trails radiate out in all directions, including two of the most popular hikes in the park, the Grinnell Glacier trail and the Iceberg Lake trail. Hikers can take a different trail every day for a week and still not cover all that the area has to offer.
Springtime brings bighorn sheep close to the road and late summer is the best time to see bears, both grizzly and black, feasting on huckleberries, which are in season then.
The next several shots below were taken from the helicopter ride we took, which I highly recommend if you visit. The increased perspective of the width and breath of the Park can only be seen from the air.
Words really can’t describe the beauty here in Montana…and it can be seen from a kayak, raft, or boat on the many lakes and rivers…from the hundreds of trails through the forests and mountains…from the zip line in White Fish or the mountain bike trails…or from an arial view on a helicopter ride.We rafted, kayaked, zip lined, biked, floated, golfed, & hiked…I want to go back:)
The pictures below were taken from an easy trail (The Loop) around the Swiftcurrent Lake at Many Glacier.
